SH1092 -- Bone Handled Swept Hilt Rapier

The Hanwei Renaissance-style Swept Hilt Rapiers trace their origins to early 17th century Europe, where swordplay with the Rapier was considered an essential part of a gentleman's education and was often used in resolving gentlemanly disagreements. Blades generally originated in one of the blade making centers such as Toledo or Solingen, but many differences in styling and hilt materials resulted from the local manufacture of hilts all over Europe.

The swept-hilt rapiers and their attendant main gauches have now been redesigned to provide lighter, better balanced pieces than earlier models. The hilts are now of the same size as the museum pieces on which they are based, providing an authentic “feel” in the user’s hand. This rapier blade is interchangeable with the “Practical” blades (OH2255 - rapier), which are designed for safety in rapier sparring. This gives the user a choice of swept hilt styles for use with both live and “Practical” blades. A replacement live blade is also available (OH2327).

This is one of my favorite pieces. Handles like a dream. I think I may fence with it since replacement blades are available.

Outstanding Rapier
(Unknown) 5/15/2008 1:43 AM
I received this from Jason here at Swords of Might about 2 weeks ago. Man this Rapier handles like a dream. I absolutely love the styling, it's well made and put together. Now I get to relive my Zorro and Dread Pirate Roberts fantasies. Now I just need to find someplace to learn how to use them properly.... I highly recommend this sword to anyone. I also ordered this with the Main Gauche and the same comments from above apply as well. Cheers, Lasz
