I just got this sword today, and I must say it is jaw-dropping. My parents had gotten it for me for Christmas, and I definitely wasn't expecting it. However, since there isn't much said in the product description about this sword, I'll do a full-blown review of it.
Measurements:
Blade Length: 23"
Hilt Length (from end of hilt to pommel): 6 3/8"
Overall Length: 29 3/8"
Overall Length (with sheath): 30 1/2"
Point of Balance: Approx. 4"
Blade Width (at hilt): 1 1/4"
Blade Width (at widest): 1 7/8"
Review:
The sword is not as big as I thought it'd be, but that is because there were no measurements given. While it does have a good balance to it, it is quite heavy and would require some good strength and stamina to wield it effectively. It also appears to be nice and thick. It also has a secondary bevel, which I was not able to see from the picture. It's not razor sharp, but still pretty sharp.
The sword is overall put together quite well, and is very sturdy. Hammer marks from forging are visible, but subtle, and the blade is definitely nice and straight.
The handle is definitely a high quality wood. It's very smooth and comfortable, and provides a strong grip. However, I would recommend wearing some sort of gloves while wielding it, because the sheer weight can still cause it to slip. The hand guard and pommel are very nice and solid, and there is no rattling whatsoever.
The leather sheath isn't the best, but it is certainly very nice. It's made of very high quality, smooth brown leather with some steel studs. There's also some kind of thick, soft foam sandwiched between the layers of leather, which I am guessing is mainly to protect the blade. The sheath also has a large belt loop, but nothing to fasten the sword to the sheath other than gravity.
Overall, I give this sword a 5/5 for its quality. This is a great sword, and if you're looking for a nice Celtic sword, this is the one to get.
