Musashi Mokko Gata Katana

I've only practiced with bokken before and just got my first sword. It came quickly, was in perfect condition upon arrival, and cuts wonderfully. This is an awesome sword for the price.

For a 1045 blade, it cuts beach mats like nobody's business. Light and quick, the tsuka fits my hands like it was born there. The ito wrap and fittings are super tight, no worrying about a loose kashira here. Beautiful hamon, too. What else do you need? Buy this sword!

I got my sword yesterday a Musashi Mokko Gata Katana, and I was pretty excited about it. I have always wanted a Katana, so I figured I would get my self-one for Christmas. At first look this thing is nice and for $79.00. Well balanced, the balance point is about 5" or so in front of the guard. The temper line looks real. Cool! I have the misfortune to have a whole mess of friends that are ornamental blacksmiths and they are world class at what they do. So, I went by their house yesterday so they could take a look at this blade. First thing my buddy did was grab a paper towel layered it and the blade between his fingers and began to run his fingers slowly up and down the blade. Yep, it is hammered! Then he looked at the temper line, Yep; it is a real temper! He asked how much? I told him $79.00!. He looked green! Then he said that it would cost him that much in sanding belts just to shape the blade if he made one. So I would have to say 5 stars Lance! B
