The Paul Chen Practical Tanto represents Paul Chen's most popular tanto, offering excellent quality at a great price. The blades are hand-forged high-carbon steel and are differentially tempered using a traditional claying method to produce a HRC60 on the edge (ha) and a HRC40 on the back (mune) with a medium (chu) kissaki. The temper line (hamon) is authentic and prominent. The fittings (koshirae) are superbly antiqued adding to the aesthetics of the set. The saya is done in a deep black lacquer and the sageo is black Japanese cotton.

Very nice addition to my Paul Chen Practical Katana, I like the smaller size of this tanto although the tsuka is a little short and I would prefer real rayskin but again it is in keeping with the practical theme of Paul Chen products. Wakizashi next to complete set. SOM is great to deal with. again.

I found this tanto well worth the small price, fittings leave a bit to be desired , but, i plan to fabricate my own tuska so it don't much matter, blade is slim as i like them to be, and sharp as i like them to be.
