We get alot of questions here at Swords of Might. One of the most asked is "What is the BEST katana you have?" Well, we usually have a hard time answering that question, but it has been answered for us. This new Paul Chen sword, The Tori Xl Katana, is without a doubt one of the finest Japanese swords to ever grace our site. It all starts with a masterfully hand crafted blade which is folded out of ASSAB K120 C Swedish steel. The polish is done so as to bring out the best hada (grain pattern) your eyes will ever see. The blade is formed with the new geometry of the XL series so cutting is a breeze. The beauty doesn't stop with the blade. The scabbard is a "fingerprintless" brown lacquer with genuine buffalo horn accents and a "clam shell" holding portion. Iron tsuba with crane design and a handle wrapped in gorgeous brown suede with black same (rayskin) underneath. A simply incredible example of traditional swordmaking.

received my Tori XL the other day. its a nice solid sword. blade looked good and fittings are all tight. handle wrap is not loose at all.
i was not a fan of the suede leather wrap but after holding the sword and admiring it up close its nicer than i thought and i like it.
a recommended cutter and collector piece. functional and pretty.

Just received the tori xl last night. Beautiful sword. The blade on this thing is massive but suprisingly well balanced. After doing the intial inspection I pulled the tsuka to check the nakago. Thick and untapered to about 4 inches beyond the last mekugi. Blade is sharp enough and well formed. Kissaki lines are crisp and correctly shaped. Leather Ito is tight and feels good. Hanwei gets better all the time and if your looking for a thick and good looking cutting sword you could do a lot worse than this.
