This is a great way to protect your carbon steel blades from rusting. It also puts a nice lustrous shine on the blade. I bought one when I bought my Masahiro Philosophy Katana to keep it from rusting. It works great, and mine came with instructions. A must if you have a collection of swords with carbon steel blades.
