The pilum (plural pila) was a javelin commonly used by the Roman army in ancient times. The Roman trooper typically carried at least one Pilum or throwing spear, a weapon as intrinsic to Roman combat tactics as the short sword. This Pilum is of the traditional flanged type and may be disassembled for ease of transportation to events.
