Product Description

The Ryumon Folded Dragon Katana has a hand forged and folded AISI 1060 high carbon steel blade tempered in the traditional clay method, which produces a hard (and extremely sharp) Ha (Cutting edge), and a resilient spine. A forge of masters who have been making swords for over 2000 years forge and polish the sword to reveal it's beautiful Hamon (temper line) and Hada (grain pattern). Each copper tsuba is traditionally detailed with a dragon motif. The wood saya is deeply lacquered with a glossy black finish and is tied with an imported Japanese cotton sageo. The tsuka (handle) is covered with authentic Same (rayskin) and imported Japanese cotton.

Like swinging a real katana style sword? Me too. Bang for your buck, live blade and sharp cold steel = 100% satisfaction. Enjoy!

  2. Good.

Its' a pretty good sword. The blade is not that sharp but that not a problem. Good feel to it and looks awesome.

This is my first functional katana, and one that I am very pleased with. I own a Hanwei Damascus Tai Chi blade and G2 longsword from Real Armor of God. I must say, despite the fact that this blade was backordered when I ordered it, (and the shipping mixup), it came still within 2 weeks, delivered when promised (thanks UPS). The customer service was excellent, and replies were very prompt and concise. Jason, thank you very much for an excellent website and customer service. I will be doing much more business with you, and I look forward to progressing my cutting ability with your websites products. As to the quality of the sword, I quickly put 2 water bottles to the test, and lets just say they will no longer be with us. Considering my lack of ability, the bottles cut very cleanly, and the water remained in the base of the bottles! After wiping the blade down after each cut, and cleaning and re-oiling, the blade was untouched, no marks, no chips, nothing. All the fittings remained tight, I am very pleased. I have my eyes on another blade, most likely the Ryumon Sakura, in black.

this product has amazed me and is the highest quality sword I have ever purchased, this weapon is razor sharp and has better build quality than any sword I have, I have bought paul chen, and musashi swords from another site and I will buy from this site from now on because their service is the best anyone can offer and this sword is very intersting because of the certificate of authenticity and the price this was at, swords of might puts so much effort into their costomers :) this wont be my last purchase from here!

I waited a month for the sword, well worth the wait. The only bad thing is sword gets stuck going back in the saya.[will go in but have to play with it.other than that the sword is perfect.[after a month wait the sword came in ,ship out and was at my house the next about outstanding service.thank you jason sword of might.

  7. A Wonderful piece!

This katana simply does not get its due kudos. If the included booklet is to be believed it seems this blade is composed in a 'sanmai' tradition where steels of differing harnesses are melded together utilizing clay tempering, and a proper hamnon is made. The grain pattern is pleasingly tight, tasteful and subdued -- quite unlike the vulgar wavy-gravy look of certain other "folded" katana. Just give it a polish and you'll see. There is a sound, as it cuts the air, that is reminiscent of a lightsaber. And it will CUT like a lightsaber! In closing, I must say customer service at Swords Of Might is second to none.

  8. Folded Dragon

I bought this katana about 8 months ago. Great katana. This katana is top shelf...across the board. I was amazed at the thinkness, sharpness and over all qualitiy of this blade. Im gonna be paul chen aint as good.

  9. Too good to be true?

Posted by Unknown on 17th Apr 2012

I just received my first Ryumon katana today. The Ryumon Folded Practical Dragon was more than what I had expected. I have been a custom knife maker for many years and I have a great eye for detail and perfection. I wasn't expecting much for a little over $200. but I have to admit that I was pleasantly suprised. I have ordered Hanwei blades and I even have a very expensive Last Legend katana. To be honest I think that the Ryumon beats them all!! I had to wait 6 months for my L.L. katana and I was very dissapointed in it for all the hype. The Ryumon arrived two days after I ordered it! The blade has perfect grind lines, a good polish with the exception of the kissaki, and all of the handle components fit very well and are very tight! I would have to rate one of the nicest production katanas that I have ever seen! I will be ordering more to add to my collection. Thank you Swords of Might!!

  10. Nice sword for the Price

Posted by Unknown on 17th Apr 2012

The sword is well balanced and when drawn feels like it weights less. It is sharp but could be sharper. The blade was polished well except at the Boshi but the Hamon lines are hard to see. However, the only real problem that occured was the sword would not slide into the Saya freely and I had to use a long thin rod to free the passage. Maybe the Saya is produced on a production line and one was bad. Overall the sword is a very good by for the price.
