I quite like this weapon. It's flexible enough for stabbing, but not enough to 'flop'. It has a wide edge, about 1/8 inch, which holds up well to heavy use. The balance point as about 4" below the guard, so recovery is a little slower than it might be, but only a little. The tip is quite sharp, so if you're actually sparring, either don't thrust or have good protective gear.
Overall, the weapon is very sturdy. The grip and sheath are covered in the same thin, papery leather - it gets very slippery when wet (i.e. from sweat). The guard, by the way, is very sturdy in addition to looking incredibly stylish.
Overall very pleasant to use to fight with.
