Product Description

The Original V-42 Stiletto Combat knife was designed in part by the Commanding Officer of the brigade, Lt. Colonel Robert T. Frederick. Every part of the knife was made with the intent of combat. This knife was the trademark weapon of the Devil's Brigade, and its members were trained extensively in the use of this knife. The profile of this knife is pictured on the crests of the Canadian Special Operation Forces Command, Canadian Forces's Joint Task Force 2 and the one of the United States Army Special Forces.
The Original V-42 was manufactured in the United States. The original leather sheath was reinforced by the troops to include a metal tip, so that the sharp blade would no longer penetrate through and cut their legs. Since the force was originally trained for fighting in cold weather conditions, the sheath was designed long, so as to hang beneath the bottom of their military parkas. After use in the field against the Germans, some unit members purposely dulled the tip of these knives to minimize its habit of embedding into bone and becoming difficult to withdraw.
This V-42 WWII combat knife replica is made by Hanwei with all of the authentic details of the originals. It has a double edge blued carbon steel blade, a stacked leather handle and leather sheath. A Must for any collector of militaria.

  1. There are many fake versions

Posted by Jeffrey D. on 28th Oct 2015

There are many fake versions of this knife out there, just look at BudK, they are cruddy, I bought one for a friend and was embarrassed. This Paul Chen is the closest I have ever seen to a real WWII trench knife and British Cammando blade. It is not made from cruddy stainless steel and then blackened. This Knife has a true carbon steel tempered blade, with the finger grooves. The stacked leather handle is excellent, and the butt is also a dangerously pointed end. The sheath is also good thick, supple leather with reinforcing rivets around, not vinyl or paper thin junk leather that crack when bent. With as little sharpening this baby is wicked, and historically correct. Jeff D.

  2. I love this knife

This is my first order, but it will not be my last. Service was great and shipping was reasonable. This V-42 seems to be very well made and was everything I expected it to be. A very nice reproduction of an important part of history that would easily fill its original intended role.
