Thick, solid construction. Actually quite beautiful wood. Felt almost the same in weight as the katana I bought. Nearly the same length as well. Bought two, both felt identical, even though one was a slight bit thicker and the other slight bit longer.
Very durable (mine has taken a lot of damage), the wood looks nice, I like the weight, and easy to use. As most other people are saying, however, the balance is unlike that of a real katana, which can make it slightly awkward when transitioning, which is the main drawback from this sword, in my opinion.

I ordered a pair of these because I needed a safe way to pratice without the risk of cleaving off a body part. They are thick and have a good weight, though not like the weight of real sword. They are strong and some of the best bokkens I own. Great way to practice sword forms.

Solid, no knots, some decent weight, takes one hell of a beating. The paint issue is trivial, its a training weapon the point is for it to get ugly

The bokutou I get from SOM are by far the best! each one unique and different all with nice finish and feel, these training swords are very valuable in my Dojo and without them myself and students can’t learn kenjutsu properly! U start with wood and u keep using them always, especially in two person drills where there is some sword contact, I always get them 2 at a time or more and I get 1that is really heavy,or 1 that is really thick! It’s gr8!,we have black, white, red, brown, natural, some I cut into custom shoto’s for Nitu Jutsu, overall I am very pleased with these swords as well as the service and value. Ronin Shinobi Dojo
