This sword is built almost exactly like its katana counterpart, albeit with less length above the hilt than its katana brother (though funny enough, with about as much handle). Infact it is because the handles are roughly the same length yet the top portion is shorter, this Wakizashi is better balanced than the same Tactical katana. Much like its brother though, it is heavy with little to no distal taper, so this wakizashi probably weighs about as much as a proper katana should. It is beefy and strong though, and that is why I like it. where as I’d probably grind off a bit more for the katana, this wears its weight well, though will tire you out if you try to do delicate moves with it. Much like its brother, the designs are almost not so much like a katana as closer to a grosse Messer the way they carry, just minus the messer guard. the blade is certainly far broader than a standard wakizashi or katana’s. If i weren’t so hesitant to take apart the handle (this thing is friggin sturdy) I’d like to see if i could put a Messer guard on it. For now though, I think I like it as is. Definitely need to wrap the handle though, it is blocky and hard.

I am very pleased with the product. It is a very good emulation of more expensive counterparts, of which I am familiar with. I have been looking for an item like this for awhile considering the price, quality, and other freatures. It makes a great piece of tactical equipment, in the appropriate circumstances and a great gift.

Kudos to SOM for extremely fast 2 day shipping. This sword is a beast. It has a 1/4″ thick blade and came razor sharp. Unlike the other tactical wakizashis that I’ve held, this actually has some heft and is not overpowered when using 2 handed. It’s easy to wield with one or both hands, and is a powerful chopper. I’ve not had any issues with the steel chipping or deforming, even when cutting inch thick branches. The edge has quite a bit of meat to it, and has a subtle convex edge. My only gripe is that the handle is a little abrasive, so I would recommend wearing gloves when using this sword. If you are a DIYer, this sword is great for customization, especially with the wooden grip, which you can easily reprofile. This went above and beyond my expectations, and I would definitely recommend this product to a friend, or anyone looking for a cheap backyard cutting sword. This is a steal for the price. With a 5% off coupon this cost $52 to be shipped to my door, and took 2 days to ship, once the order was processed. Unfortunately it took two weeks to receive from the day I ordered it, but I ordered it the day SOM put it on the website, before they got the swords shipped to their warehouse and stocked. However, I believe it was well worth the wait. Don’t let the shipping time scare you off. It’s a great product. I will be posting a full review of this product on the Sword Buyers Guide Forum. I will also be testing the product for durability and edge retention. Thank you Swords of Might for a great product and price!

My only regret is not buying the Katana as well at the same time. I was a bit leary since ive been less than impressed with some of my online purchases but im very pleased with what I got today. one word SOLID im sitting here trying to find a flaw and I cant see or feel any, the one thing I am seeing is the handle scales feel like hard rubber not wood I may be wrong but id swear they are rubber, not a bad thing in my opinion rubber wont split or crack like wood. Heck even the scabbard is solid as a rock, I kick myself for not taking a chance on the set I just hope they don’t go off sale too soon.

Good blade. Feels good in the hand. Maneuverability is spot on.

The sword is well built and will last a lifetime. The scabbard has a crack at the very bottom but it being fiberglass over wood I can repair it with liquid fiberglass and this I can accept. The weight of sword with scabbard is 2 pounds 6oz.. It weighs more than my Katana sword and is built like a tank. Great sword for the money.

Really solid tactical style wakizashi. The sword is built well, and should hold up to most things you would ever use it for. Excellent deal for the price. I’m very pleased with my purchase.

So far so good. While it does have a little heaft it is balanced verry well. The blade is thick and wide how ever right out of the box there were a couple of minor issues. First the lanyard buckle or spring button was broken, not a big deal as i took the lanyard off right away. It is not “razor” sharp but will be with minor sharpening. The guard was a little loose but not detrimentaly so and the tip has a slight tweek to one side. All that aside this is a supprisingly stout little blade. Far and above what i expected for the price.
